Which ever reason it is, there will always be positive end results. Reading is like an exercise for the mind, keeping it fit, flexible and strong.  Simply put, reading not only improves vocabulary and makes you smarter but also boosts brain power and memory. Reading also:

The other subtle benefits are mental, emotional, social and the one most of us are aware of, to prevent and control chronic diseases such as cancers. Most people assume gym goers or people who workout do it solely for the physical rewards, but this couldn't be further from the truth. Although physical benefits are a motivation for some, most people actually chase the mental, emotional and health benefits that come with exercise.

Foods that contain alot of sugar and fats such as processed meat, fried food, refined cereals, candy, and high fat dairy products, are more likely to lead to anxiety and depression.
